Picked up a 65 acrylic with refuge in the back. Plan is to use it for a sump after I cut the top off. Was this a stupid idea? Knock down baffles in refuge in the back and use a ato (~10 gallons), then divide the front as needed. Wondering if I should have just used a 40 breeder like a normal person. Display is 36”x24” pinnsula from glasscages.

bigger water volume = more stability (better)

I don't know how you will pull this off though, I am not into DIY looking forward to see how it looks.

6 months later—— display, stand and sump up and running. Added glass baffles, left acrylic top on and cut it back to 1” around the rim.

I was skeptical seeing the first post, but nice job! Looks like that turned out very well. I think that was smart keeping the upper bracing around the top.
