DOS Peri Tubing

Curious what peri tubing folks have used as replacement for the DOS pump? I always prefer to buy it in bulk so if folks could say specifically which tubing worked that would be most helpful.

I just use regular airline tubing. The python stuff is nice on brs.

I get mine from the local hardware store. Its a neoprene I think. I use it as rubber bands and slingshots.

I can't specifically help, but can point you in the right direction. I've spec'ed the tubing on BRS's pumps and purchased it to DIY the replacements. I documented that HERE.

You don't want simple latex or neoprene....you need a "stronger" material such as Santoprene. Pull off the current tubing and carefully measure internal and external diameters, and the tubing thickness and see if you can find that type of tubing from a tubing supplier. The one piece missing, and you'll have to guess, it the "softness" of the tubing. I ordered my replacement tubing from THIS company.

Thanks Paul, very helpful. I've bought santoprene tubing from US Plastics in the past for my MasterFlex - essentially a lifetime supply for $30 LOL. I'll have pull off the grey ends and measure as you suggest.

Even if you don’t get the tubing exactly right, the volume calibration should cover small variations.

Exactly! I'd replace the tubing in both heads at the same time regardless of wear.

I go to Home Depot and buy the 1/4" clear plastic tubing. Why some folks have to have the $0.50-1.00/ft Neptune DOS tubing is beyond me...

The internal pumphead tubing seems to be 1/4” tubing with a 1/8” ID and 1/16” wall thickness. So based on the Masterflex pump threads, if Tygon PharMed BPT tubing is the most durable for continuous duty peristaltic pumps, it’s got to be good for the intermittent running DOS. It also seems that replacement rollers can be purchased through Avast Marine... $8.99 for a 4 pack, each DOS pump head uses 2. I haven’t tried these alternatives as yet, but plan to give it a go when the time comes.

I should have said 4 rollers. :) Have you tried it for replacing your DOS pumphead rollers yet? Is it a direct swap? As each DOS head uses only 2 rollers, I figure the $8.99 four roller Avast head would be able to service both heads on a DOS unit.

I have not tried; in fact I cannot quite recall where I put the new heads. I figure if I stop searching for them, then I'll find them. It IS apparently a drop in replacement, but only for one head. The mechanism inside has four pinch rollers rather than two, so no way for it to do double service. But when I find them, I'll post a picture.

That’s great if that’s the case. Four rollers per head are definitely better than the standard two found in the DOS.

Well, I cannot find the replacement heads - I actually think I may not have even ordered them (this happens to me occasionally LOL). Unfortunately now Avast seems out of stock. Best laid plans …...
