I have an older doser I want to replace. No controller, but thinking about buying one.

The biggest issue is the tubing frequently clogs. I have to manually run each pump to verify they still work. If something could alert me every time this happens, it would be well worth the cost. It doesn't need to be an "in your face" alert either- if an Apex shows enough of a change in power consumption to know it clogged, that's fine. Larger diameter tubing would help, if not solve the issue entirely.

Any suggestions?

Look at Red Se. I have a couple of Red Sea ReefDosers. Run by an app. Tells you if there was a missed dose from power outage . How much supplement was dosed and how much left. I used the Red Sea tubing and it has never clogged. Totally happy.

I have never had one clog. I have had them split and they would quit pumping. I use 4 dosing pumps for my ATO, AWC and All For Reef dosing. They are all powered from drive ports from my Hydros system. The Hydros does have power monitoring but it would only work if the clog changed the current enough to trigger an alert. I know if one gets unplugged I defiantly get an alert for that.

Ok, i got a chance to stop one of the dosing pump to see if it would alert. The tile turned red and I got an alert. It went from 1 watts to 8 watts when I grabbed the motor shaft to stop it. you can set a wattage range for a drive port output which I use to power my dosing pumps and if it get out of that range either way it will send an alert. ai think it does have to be out several seconds for it to alert vut if it stalls for a clog then it will unless it is a short dosing period.
