I recently purchased an AutoAqua Doser4. It is not very flexible in its scheduling. I cannot do a single, daily dose of Acropower. The system automatically breaks the one dose into six smaller doses throughout the course of 12 hours.

I know that Julian Sprung says not to take the minimum weekly dose (let's say 35ml once a week) and break it down over seven 5ml daily doses.

But can I take the max daily dose (also 35ml, but once a day, instead of once a week) and break it down over six doses in a single day, 6ml six times per day? In essence, 42 6ml doses over the course of the week.

For anyone who may be curious, Julian responded to my email wicked fast. This was his answer:

"The ideal situation is to dose a threshold amount all at once. You can do that 1x per week, 2x per week, or as many as 7x per week. Dosing 7 days per week is really a lot... 3-4 days per week is about right for most reef tanks.

The alternative of six smaller doses over a 12 hour period is not terrible-- it can work. The doses should be made during the photoperiod."

I really don't know whether that answer is justified by convincing data/evidence (manufacturer claims in general often are not and never disclose what the evidence is), but I don't see any harm in following it.
