My 29g has been lacking in nutrients and am interesting in dosing aminos acids. Im between the brightwell and the red sea ab reef energy. My nitrates have been low 1ppm nitrate .02ppm as of last reading. Calc has been 440 and alk 10.3. im currently have only lps was wondering if anyone else has had success using them or if i should just feed reef roids or reef chilli Instead

I use brightwell aminos right now, but am waiting for that redsea reef energy plus to release to test going back to them. I liked the results from their products more but the convenience of brightwell being a one part definitely won for me.

I’ve used fuel and now Red Sea A+B. Absolutely give them a try, I get a lot of growth and color. But go easy on the dosing, especially at first.

I saw that video today, ive been target feeding more, but want more coraline algae growth, so was considering dosing some form of suplement

Can zoas feed off reef roids from the water column?

I could be wrong, but I believe the answer to this is yes. I occasionally broadcast feed coral feast (similar to roids) and I see them close up on particles.

It could be getting too much light, they extend more in lower light I believe. How long have you had it?

If you buy Amino Acids, then definitely consider the Korallenzucht Amino Acid concentrate. By far the best value as you'll use drops vs ml. I have used this off and on for my 300 sps reef and can definitely notice a difference. Colors, PE, and growth all improved. Some corals had paled, and it brought them back in two weeks.

I can't believe I didn't realize they had an amino option. I haven't been disappointed in any of their products I've tried. Thanks for this, maybe I'll try this when I run out of A and B

I test my water and found that all the micronutrientes were about cero, so I dose SeaChem Reef Plus that has all of them, but being very carefully that I do not exceed 0.06 of Iodine, so I test for it with the Giesemann Iodine test and dose it to keep 0.06 of Iodine!, that works for me!

If I am understanding you correctly by extend you just mean towards the light? everyday mine get really inflated with water/puffy and then as my lights ramp down the contract back down. Unless you are running really weak or not enough lights over your tank and your PAR is below 75 I seriously doubt that the torches are starving so much they are actually reaching for light. I have rarely seen this as the primary cause for what you call reaching. For me I understand that with my gentle flow that ebbs back and forth my torches will naturally end up with their tentacles towards the top of the water at different times of the day as my pumps cycle through their various flow patterns. very similar to a Euphyllia no flow picture just not as drastic. I have them in as high as 275 Par and as low as 125 Par. the main difference is Indo vs Aussie and bright yellow and gold vs darker colors as to where I want them to be. Please remember that every tank is different and that it is easier to kill corals with light than without. there can be too much of a good thing in this case. I have included pics of my euphyllia tank to show some examples of no flow vs light flow.
