I just bought kent marine tech m mag to bring mag up. Mag is at 1100 and I want to bring up to 1320. It says to dose 1/4 tsp a day to raise 18.3 ppm a day, that's for a 50 gallon tank. I have a 30 gallon tank. I'm guessing 1/4 will raise my tank about 25 ppm then. It'd take months to raise my mag at that rate. What's the most I should dose per day?? Also trying to bring alk up right now so I'm guessing I should dose on opposite days? With calcium in there every third or fourth day? Thoughts?

Here are my thoughts……

I would dose alk and calc daily….and if you have pumps, at multiple times throughout the day. You want to maintain a constant level of these two components.

With Magnesium, you can raise this rather quickly….no more than 1000 ppm per day. So within a couple days you can have your mag up to the level you want.

Note, especially with alk, you want to raise this slowly…..and don’t go nuts….8 is a nice number.

+1 on Calc & Alk. Calcium needs to be within par to get an accurate reading on your mag.
