How much are you guys dosing of Magnesium. I got the 2 part kit from BRS and I measured my magnesium today and it was reading 1220 ppm, I used a calculator to determine how much I need to bring it up to 1350 and it said i Need: 328.2 grams; 11.5 oz 78.1 tsp

Is that true? I need that much?

Thank You

I have used Brightwell in the past, now I use the BRS stuff. JMO, I think the BRS stuff mixes up better. Yes it does take a lot of product to raise your levels. When I first starting monitoring it I thought I was using way too much, but I was not. I dose it daily along with the Ca and Alk and maintain it around 1500ppm.

It takes quite a bit to raise mag.

I'd also check alk and ca and add kalk to help maintain.
Thats what I do at least.

+1 on taking a lot to raise Mag initially. I use BRS + Epsom (Farley Holmes recipe). I've had to elevate even more over the last month to kill of Bryopsis...have been maintaining 1600+ over last month and will keep it there 2 more months. Currently adding 1 - 2 cups every 2 - 3 days to maintain in 120 gallon (150g total).

I have a 4 station reef doser that I'm currently using to dose Ca / Alk currently and I'm going to hook up my Mag to another station this weekend so it's dosing daily.

Mine is over 1300 and with my water change schedule with RC salt which is high in Mg I only have to add Randy's recipe if I get lazy on water changes and let them go for 4 weks instead of 1-3 weeks.

I keep mine at 1400-1450.
Yo may know this already but I did not, you wont be able to get to the 1400+ (maybe even 1350) unless your Sg is 1.024 or higher-Thats what I was told and found out-I would dose and dose and could not gey highter than 1260.
Bumped my SG to 1.025 and WA-BA 1460-

I had to dump a gallon in my setup not too long ago to bring up the mag, it does take a lot. You also dont want to raise too quickly, 50ppm a day should be good until you get where you need to be. 1220 isnt alarming so dont over do it, shoot for 1350-1450 probably.
