So I’m looking to try and keep parameters as stable as possible. I currently dose alk all night and calcium in the day as I think I’ve read that somewhere it’s good to dose alk at night for PH reasons. For better stability, is it better to dose over a whole 24 hour period? Or does it really not make a difference at all?

Trying to go for an sos dominant tank

Thanks!

Depends on coral load.
Sps lps use more alk cal in the day.
The alk ph is best at nigh.

I spilt the difference and dosed mid night and early morning. Then late day.
Four total alk. Four total cal.

Some folks have crazy complex ones , but some folks are crazy and complex.

I only dose a small amount, so two doses each. Alkalinity at 07:00 and 19:00 (near lights on and lights off) and Calcium between those at 01:00 and 13:00.

I dose 5 times a day and the amount will vary as to the dkh reading I am getting. Always measure at the same time of the day if you are doing manual testing instead of a auto KH testing system.

There's no perfect answer, but for alk stability, dose more during the day. For pH stability, dose more at night.

Unless your pH gets very low (below pH 7.8), I'd focus on alk stability.
