The vinegar is like 365!!

I quit dosing today as some of my sps were looking lighter. I ordered some GFO to combat some hair algae that is starting to pop up in places.

Might try Vodka instead, I never like the vinegar because of how much you had to dose. But keep in mind, that either one is not going to be the end all to phosphates, not by a long shot.

GFO
SeaKlear
Lanthanum of some sort.
Use one of those and Vodka Dose, then you can feed what ever you want, whenever you want.

I dose vodka still, but do not have a TDS meter to test it on.

Just tested Gordon's 80 proof Vodka. TDS was 45. I would not be surprised to see different TDS results for different brands of Vodka as ingredients/distillation methods do vary.

As far as the TDS for Vinegar goes, I wouldn't worry too much. Most things we dose into our tanks (2 part Calc/Alk, etc.) do not have 0 TDS.

Thanks. That's the good vodka, right? Something like Heaven's Hill would probably be much higher?

Good gravy no :) Gordon's is a cheap Vodka. Something like Grey Goose goes through a more rigorous distillation process, but I doubt the TDS is close to 0.

What about the TDS of vinegar and how will that effect your tank? My top off water with the vinegar is 24tds.

It's just a reflection of you adding this to the 0 TDS water:
320px-Acetic-acid-2D-flat.png

zero + (anything) = a number bigger than zero, of course

So your reading is no surprise! :)

As far as the effect? The vinegar will will have all the known and unknown effects we're all talking about when we dose vinegar, or use it to dose limewater. The TDS will contribute minutely (insignificantly) to your water's specific gravity.

How's everyone's vinegar dosing coming along? Anyone still doing it? Getting the results you wanted? Details please! :)

Started last week. Started @ 10 mL per day. Just started @ 15 mL per day. Haven't tested, yet but plan on tonight. Skimmer is super wet too (which I don't mind).
