SCIENTIFIC NAME: Chaetodon semelon

COMMON NAME: Dotted Butterflyfish

SIZE: 9.9†(25.5 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE: 100 US Gal (379 L)

FOODS & FEEDING: Feeds on fresh chopped seafood, frozen brine shrimp, and coral polyps. However, reluctant individuals may prefer live brine shrimp or live black worms.

REEF COMPATIBILITY: No. This species will damage or eat hard and soft coral polyps, zoanthids, anemones, ascidians, and polychaete worms.

CAPTIVE CARE: The Dotted Butterflyfish should be housed in a peaceful community tank and provided with several hiding places. Only one should be kept per tank, and they will often display subdued coloration in home aquaria. This species prefers temperatures in the range of 72-81 F (22-27 C) and is a non-coraline invertebrate feeder in the wild.
