I don't have one myself, but get to look at one every weekend at the local Public Aquarium. If I get a chance (and he doesn't have his head in a crevice!) I'll try and snap a shot or two this weekend.

I've had a Japanese and Hawaiian variant in the past. Lost the Japanese to spoiled squid and sold the Hawaiian.

Those eels are amazing, whats the difference between the Japanese and Hawaiian varieties?

Color differences. The majority of the body on the Japanese is orange while the Hawaiians head is orange the rest of the body is grey/brown.

A LFS near me has a pair for sale. They’ve had them for at least 6 months. Very cool seeing a pair.

Was there tonite. They’re the Japanese variant. Price is $1,800 for the pair. Didn’t take a pic. I’m in Michigan.
