Hello - I wanted to buy a dragon faced pipefish but the shop only has 1.

So will it do ok on it's own and can I add a second one down the line?

I have a RedSeaReefer250 and have extra pods coming - so I can QT with pods - (I will look up if it's ok to use Prazi with them).

My guess is it should be fine to introduce a 2nd later assuming it's the opposite sex.

Thank you,
Sunny ;)

I added mine as a pair, they are easy enough to sex but my concern would be that the original one, if you buy it, will see the new one as a food competitor but I have never tried it.

Thanks Najer - I think if I decide to get a 2nd then I will watch it closely and if there is aggression give it to my reefing buddy ;) That would be a simple solution (as I am sure they can't be too difficult to remove ;)

Could you tell me how you sex them? I couldn't find any information on this.
That's a good question - I thought I saw it somewhere but can't find it - this is cool though ;) Hopefully Najer can answer ;)

Found it - @minus9 said in another thread on R2R on them:
Love 'em. I have a male DF and would like to find a female eventually. Btw, males will have an orange/blue marking near their vent and the females are clear on their bellies.

The male has a larger tummy pad by the vent to hold eggs if I remember correctly, I had my pair a good few years ago now. Females are not as wide and the snouts of females are slightly smaller.
