drain size?

ok i run 2 systems on the same sump the way i have things plumbed right now is just causeing issues so im moving the sump out from under the dt and into the fish room i want to run my 3 1 inch drains into one pipe i was thining maybe a 2 and a half inch pvc or maybe just a 2inch. i want to be able to run 1 big filter sock and not 3 seperate ones lol

Just go with 3". I have 6 1" drains all going into a 3" pipe in the store and have no problems. I use the j-hook style pvc hangers to "hook" the bags onto the pipe also.

2" should be fine, 2" PVC is exactly four times bigger than 1" PVC so it could handle up to 4 1" drains.

I agree, 2" should be more then enough. 2(pie)r2 = area if you want to confirm the math.

as long as you dont push more than 2000GPH through the 2 tanks. 2" will do.
