Drilling glass holes

Does anyone know the rule to drilling glass holes in reference to the minimum distance from the top edge of the tank? I am doing a coast to coast on a 75 w/ 3 drains and want to put the drains a physically high as possible so I dont have to have a deep overflow box.

I'm not sure if this still holds true or not, but the rule of thumb I heard before was that you need to stay a hole size away from the edge of the tank. So if you are drilling a 2.2" hole for a 1.5" bulkhead, then the top/side of your bulkhead has to be at least 2.2" away from either the top or side edges.

I go by the same thing. Equal distance from the top or side as the hole your drilling.

I use that rule on 1/4" glass.

On 3/8" and thicker you can get a lot closer...as long as you don't chip out the edge while drilling.

The rule here is GO SLOW! Don't force the drill and use a lot of water to keep the bit cool.

Just drill slowly and keep the glass cool.

thicker glass you can get a little closer but on 1/4 stay a wholes with away.
