Drunk stomatella?

so this is the second time I have seen him do this today. He is scooting around, stops and slowly peels off and just flops to the sand bed. He will just drift around with the current until I flip him over or close to something he can stick to

Might not be getting enough food. Usually snails lose their grip when they are starving and can't generate enough grip to stay attached to surfaces. Could also be water parameters

Yep that'll probably be why. I would assume your tank s relatively new still. Try to test as much as you can (once a day is optimal) and do frequent small water changes (like once a week)

Sadly it has turned into a crash. Luckily it was only the cade 400 and we have an aquaone 120 and transferred all the live stock there. The culprits were the sand and rocks I added a few days ago that weren’t rinsed enough and we’re still full of ammonia. Plus before I added them I cleaned the algae off the walls and floor and with it, bacteria. Pulled messy rocks and sand, they are going in the bin and basically emptying the tank and refilling it today. Hubby used to do all the testing but I’m learning to do it now. Plus I have been banned from adding anything to ‘his’ tanks

Yeah when adding any new rocks or sand you can't simply rinse it and put it in. Rather you need to cure it for at least a few weeks just like hoe you originally cured your LR. How new is your tank btw? If it's still in its first year try to keep a hands off approach while everything settles (as hard as it sounds)

I have a beautiful friendly pair of clowns, two gbta, bicolour Blenny, snails, 2 corals and coral banded shrimp I put at risk with my meddling.

I'd watch those BTAs. Those usuaully (emphasis on usually) don't do well in newer tanks so just keep an eye on em

We have two in the 120 that are going awesome. Nothing will be going back to the 40 for now, but even when we do move stuff back, the nems might stay in the 120. The clowns wil miss them though

Good news, the cade finally cycled a few days ago so we have put the livestock back in. Kept the landscape simple with just a few rocks and sand. I don’t like the sand, I prefer the black quartz substrate but will have to suck it up. The fishies are happy to be back swimming around and not confined to the breeder box in the other tank.
Edit: I have learned to do the water testing so I can keep an eye on things when hubby isn’t home.
