I'm currently battling low nitrates(0) even with increasing feeding and bio load. I'm also dosing aminos and coral food. My water is just too clean still. I was contemplating turning off my skimmer but I really don't want to. This got me thinking does dry skimming leave nutrients in the water column longer than wet?

Excessively wet or excessively dry skimming is less efficient and will leave more dissolved organics than a properly tuned skimmer. However, if your nitrates are zero, any reason you don't just remove the collection cup? That way you get the benefit of aeration without removing anything.
