I didnt pay attention to my acan in my 15g for two to three days, and it basically was too far gone to save by the time i got to it. I have three things that i think might have caused it. 1) fried it with light: I had an acclimation period going and i dont know when it ended so it might have been just at the right amount to fry it because it was doing perfectly fine before i left. 2) overfed it: doubt it since i fed the same amount of reef roids i usually do, but still an option since i fed it before i left. 3) too much flow: i turned my nero 3 from 30 to 45% too knock off any extra food and remove it from the tank. I didnt turn it back off. Heres what i noticed from when i realized it was dying until now. Mouth of every polyp was wide open at all times. Ive heard thats to get rid of extra food but im not sure. Skeleton showed very quickly and i mean a lot of skeleton. Now its just a pale blue like dead tissue. Until it turned to pale blue, i didnt notice any bleaching or anything which ive heard is a sign of too much light. I dont have any parameters right now but i can measure tomorrow if needed which it probably is. Everything should be in range since i do regular water changes and that usually keeps them in range for me. Its not fully dead yet, theres still a little but of color in some spots. Should i throw it out? Is it releasing ammonia into the tank? Any advice is appreciated
