My gf and I are talking about getting a dog sitter in the fall and taking a week or more to just drive up the east coast on vacation ... instead of our annual trip to NC with the dogs...

She doesnt' want to plan much as long as we pass through Boston for a Red Sox game....but figured I'd ask if anyone has any suggestions on nice places one should stop and see between FL and MA?

We've never been anywhere along the coast :) that's why we want to go... we've only been to the west side of NC as well.

cape cod is really cool, you can take the ferry over to martha's vineyard wich is also awesome-whatever you do enjoy it!

so do you want to plan on staying anywhere for a couple of days? or is this more like a drive-by vacation sight seeing from the car? lol

I went to Martha's vineyard last year and we rented bicycles and basically road around all day, we also went to gayhead beach(has a new name from what I am told) the beach is awesome and they have sign's along the beach stating that they encourage people to throw the beached starfish back into the water-me being the reefer/saltwater guy I am probabply threw back atleast 300 stars that day....cool stuff to a city boy trapped in the concrete jungle:)

If you plan on stopping for a few days in the Maryland, Delaware area there are losts of beaches and little resort areas. What would most interest you: historical and quiet places, family beach areas, places with clubs and lots of entertainment?

And of course North Carolina's Outer Banks has a bunch of nice areas for quiet kicking back.

I'm thinking we might stay in Boston for a day or two (especially since she wants to see the Red Sox)...but since she wants to drive up the coast and just stop different places..... we will probably just stop a night here and there on the way up...so I'm trying to figure out what states to stop in :)

I am glad she wants to check out Boston though..we are moving in a couple years..and we are tryin to figure out where we want to move to...

a stop in New York City makes for a great night out .... and you can see where they play alot of world series games

Well over the last week it's evolved from a leisurely drive up the coast ... to a drive in one day (maybe stop one nite in D.C. to see stuff) up to Boston.. when we can get tix to the red sox of course... then spend most of the week in cape code and provincetown ...

We started looking in our Boston guide book and decided to spend most of the trip there... although I'm still thinking going to NY for a day would be nice..as neither of us has been there either.
