Gymnothorax miliaris

Does anyone know the difference between the golden tail and the fire coral eel variants? Looking for the brighter one (not the banana, Im not rich lol) just wondering how much of a difference there is between the two.

@Slocke @HAAAAAAAA ??

According to my lousy research they both seem to be the same eel, more than variations, I suspect it to be a resemblance of a juvenile and an adult, I've had a eel which was darker when he was a juvenile, but when he was almost full grown his white spots were more bigger and colourful

But I am definitely not 100 percent since they do look like different eels, but I've yet to see a eel with the same eye colour

From these pictures you can see that the more apparent smaller eel looks more darker and brownish but the more adult looking eel looks more pretty with more larger spots covering it's face

Yeah same eel for sure. Some sites sell the fire coral eel for about 100 more than the golden tail which had me curious. The banana variant is beautiful but wayyyg over my budget
