Eheim are a great brand so you really cant go wrong with them but beings your using live rock be sure to keep up on the changing of the media so it doesn't compete with your live rock biologically.

Primeing is different. If you don't have a tool you can suck on the hose or use an air line to pull air. Watch the clips they can pop off easily lost forever. Plus look at fosters and smith they have all the pads and attachments.

Thanks! How often do you recommend changing the media? I have around 150lbs of live rock.

They are great canister filters.
They dont provide that much water flow output for that size tank.
They dont have self-priming.
They are great when used to hold phosphate, carbon, and nitrate media.
