Hi all,

Im not sure whether this is a major concern or whether everything will be ok.

I had recently had issues with stray voltage from. A defective power head, I had noticed that my corals were not opening properly since. I thought this cannot be linked after almost a week , and retested levels. I have elevated KH , I usually sit around 8.5 however I am somewhere around 10.5 now.

could this be the cause of my corals not opening and if so, would the best cause of action to be to leave it alone and not buffer etc. water change, or if the level needs to come down more quickly is there a chemical treatment?

apologies for sounding a little novicey, I am still learning as I go with.

I have found water changes work the best. 10.5 isn’t over the top, I run mine near 10.
What are your other parameters. I find swings in nitrates seems to affect some of my corals.
That being said, rapid swings in Alk affect corals so move slowly as you are still in the “acceptable range”
