A week and a half ago I bought a handful of inverts for my tank, including an emerald crab and five hermit crabs. The very first day I noticed one of the hermit crabs shells was empty where there was no shell he could have changed into. I never found any remains whatsoever. I didn’t think too much of it, but yesterday I noticed another hermit crab had gone missing but I know he didn’t just change out of his shell. My emerald crab was in the general area before I noticed it had happened. No other animal could possibly be the culprit. There is lots of live rock, macro algae, and some nori in the tank so I feel like I’ve been feeding him enough... Is this normal?? Should I be feeding him more??

I would be hesitant to blame the emerald as they get blamed for way to many problems similar to hermits.

Emeralds are hit or miss. Some develop a taste for meat, unfortunately, perhaps yours did. Maybe start feeding meaty pellets to them. That’s what I had to do with mine to keep him behaving.

A few days ago I would have said probably not. Then I witnessed my emerald crab attacking a hermit trying to pull it out of it's shell.

I seen one of my blue legged hermit carbs floating around my tank the other day. I was like guess your a goner....
