I bought a scooter blennie 2 weeks ago for my 3 year old 75 gallon tank. I have a refgium and checked to make sure it was teeming with pods and it looked like it had the proper microbiome to support the fish. He did excellent for two weeks. Exaclty two weeks later he went missing. In between them I added an emeral crab, can they feed on the microfauna of a tank?

Just to clarify the question, are you asking whether Emerald crabs compete with Blennies for Blennie food?

Emerald crabs eat mainly algae, though I wouldn't be surprised if they also take amphipods. Scooter "blennies" are actually dragonets, which eat mainly copepods. I don't think an emerald crab can catch copepods effectively.

Where did you get the dragonet from, and did you do any sort of quarantine? Are there any gaps in your lids, or any in your filter system that it could have gotten into?

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
