I have 1 engineer goby. He (or she) needs at least 1 friend. Can’t find one his size. Would it be ok to get a smaller one? Both will go into new qt together for treatment and observation. I don’t want to get a big group. I was hoping 2 would be ok? This poor guy has been alone a whole yr under someone else’s care. Anyone have experience w these guys?

If it has already started burrowing it may not accept another one, whether they are the same size or not. They are strongly pair forming. So it may just kill the new one.

I got it as part of a setup. It’s been in there for a yr. but I’m moving it to qt at the same time I introduce the new one so they will both be in new territory. There will be no substrate to dog in but plenty of pvc elbows and tubes. I could just keep it alone but I know they do best in groups and want to give him a good life

They are only social as juveniles, not adults. Keeping it singly at this point is best.
