I apologize for the vid quality! I added this Euphyllia last night, and this morning it seems almost fully open and appears healthy. However, last night I noticed the Lysmata shrimp literally tearing off some polyps, which seemed strange to me, and this morning I noticed the coral has a sort of whitish mucus. What is it? Why is the shrimp behaving like that?

Sometimes the shrimp will go after LPS corals.

So there's nothing to worry about then? Is that kind of like a self-defense mechanism?

I would worry about it, yes. If it continues, the shrimp can damage the hammer coral.

You can remove the shrimp sir. The lysmata shrimp are omnivores, they are a hit or miss in a reef tank unfortunately.

And to think I believed they were super reef safe. Thanks for the info. One last thing: that white stuff is related to stress and similar issues, right? It's not a parasite or something else.

In most cases , it goes after food particles within the coral. If its the coral it wants, it wont stop
