Whats your experience with giving a not so friendly fish a time out for a few weeks. Has this ever worked out for you or is it better to just get rid of the fish?

Try it, give the other fish a chance to stake their claims in the tank before the agressor

+1. I'd at least try it to see if it works. A local here did it with a purple tang and it's been ok since then, but he put him in a time out for a month. What fish is becoming a bully?

I've done that a few times and it has always worked. I even did it with a mean blue damsel that was chasing clownfish. Now the clowns chase the damsel.

I do it all the time with my PBT whenever I add a new fish and it is in a Time Out right now for chasing my Leopard which is starting to change to a male. Also I'm trying to catch my sixline for the same reason....they were all fine for many months together until the Leopard decided to be a male.

I was still trying to decide whether put the Labouti back in or not. He went back in today, we'll see.

Sometimes it works sometimes it temporarily works, and sometimes someone else becomes a bully lol

A friend in our club had good luck putting a mirror outside his tank. The aggressor sees his reflection and prefers to challenge one of his own species so leaves other similar fish alone.
