Fairy wrasse behavior? Normal?

I turned my lights off for the day but I believe he may be super stressed from me/the light and everyone else. He hid immediately which is to be expected but he’s been on the surface kind of bobbing up and down breathing kind of heavy and keeps sticking his mouth out of the water? I lost power briefly which didn’t help but the water is well oxygenated and either he acclimated poorly or he’s just stresssed? But in my defense I have acclimated many fish and done the same thing ans acclimated for over an hour. But maybe he will get used to his new home and is just taking a bit I’m sure I’m he’s stressed although I did see him eating at least I think he was. Anyone else notice this when first introducing a fairy wrasse? Seems like odd behavior/have never seen it. He’s not belly up which is good and he was hiding before also Hewbie is intimidating to him then again Hewbie imitates everyone before they realize Hewbie won’t eat them lol.

No, no, and no. I’m not going back downstairs to check this lol. I’m happily under my nice heated blanket lol.

As mentioned I genuinely think he’s just really stressed but I’ve never owned any fairy wrasses so unsure what the typical behavior is.

No fish are friends not food. He’s never eaten anyone or shown aggression. He’s the least problematic and most unbothered in the tank.

Well, a mouth that size and his incredibly wonderful defense mechanism works well for him. Comparitively, could you imagine trying to intimidate a 20 foot man with a 3 foot mouth?!?!

Hewbie is doing great! And has always been a thin football lol. But believe me he’s well loved, taken care of, and fed. Puffs come in all shapes and sizes. Hewbie enjoyed some homemade fish friendly sushi the other night. And regularly get frozen seafood mix and cockles imported from New Zealand.

So glad to see it's doing good now. We just added a Solorensis too and they are beautiful to watch :star-struck:

they are prone to getting bullied and jumping out of the tank so anyone lookin into fairy wrasses take note and add with more peaceful inhabitants
