Fairy Wrasse question

If you have 2 male wrasse of the same species. Would the submissive one revert back to female? Assuming it was not harassed to death.

I just picked up a nice male wrasse and want him to keep his colors. I've read they can sometimes loose some of their colors if there are no females or males in the tank. This was also an assorted wrasse. So I have no idea what it is and how the females look.
