Feather Duster completely out of tube - is it dead?

I noticed that it was not putting out its feathers for a few days so I went to pick it up and noticed it still attached to the tube, but buried completely in the substrate. It doesn't move when I pick it up.

Not a good sign. Normally they retract when touched. If you have hermit crabs (who are opportunistic) you may want to put something over or around it until it recovers or expires.
