Feather Duster completely out of tube - is it dead?

I noticed that it was not putting out its feathers for a few days so I went to pick it up and noticed it still attached to the tube, but buried completely in the substrate. It doesn't move when I pick it up.

Not a good sign. Normally they retract when touched. If you have hermit crabs (who are opportunistic) you may want to put something over or around it until it recovers or expires.

Thanks for the input, he just wasn't happy with the flow. Turns out he made a bigger tube out of substrate and is happy now that he is in a higher flow area.
