Filter floss vs Socks

Hello,

So I run filter floss cups in my filter instead of socks. Do you guys have any preference? I feel like my Filter floss cups clog up fairy fast (2-3 days). But do you feel like the filter socks do a better job at filtration compared to running filter floss?

Great question! Part of this depends on the micron level of the filter socks that you are using.

I’m just setting up a WaterBox that came with four socks. 2 felt and 2 mesh. Im debating getting cups since the socks need to be cleaned every few days, like what you’re going through with filter floss. I like the idea of being able to just grab the used floss and toss it. Socks need to be cleaned and I have to buy multiple to keep a good rotation going of having clean ones ready.

I’m up in the air if I should get cups, but on my nano replacing floss every couple of days has been pretty effortless.

Curious to see what others say too.

I honestly didn't use socks at all in my Red Sea, I wen't straight to cups, but I feel like the water isn't polished as much as ive seen others...so didn't know if getting some 100 micron socks it worth the try.

So, I ran the 100 Micron for the last three days and my water is in fact WAY clearer than the filter floss cups. I got some 250s too, so I may just switch between the two every water change so I can clean the water up.
