I need to get a new heating element. My homework says the Finnex Titanium heaters tend to be one of the better options. I don’t need a controller, as I have the Ranco temp controller.

The BRS titanium elements while currently on sale are the same price as the Finnex TH-S series ($59.99 for 300W). Is one better than the other?

Same boat…following along!

I currently have both and honestly at this point I couldn’t tell you which one is which. There is very little a difference in preference. The biggest difference is the controller, it really makes the biggest difference if you already are going with titanium heaters

I have never had the Finnex, but have always heard that most people are happy with them.

I have had a few of the BRS titanium heating elements, and have two more stashed away for a future build; I have been happy with mine.

I have recently tried the titanium heaters from Hygger, which are more modestly priced, and at least by first impression they seem like a quality heater. I can't yet speak to longevity, which is obviously very important in a heater, but I have high hopes 🙂

I had multiple of both. Both tend to die at 2 - 3 year mark, so what ever you get, buy 2 to have a backup.

Finnex - one broke apart on me, donno what if anything it leached out, but not happy. I had 2 die.

BRS - I like the support here. In under 3 years, they just send you a replacement. I had 1 die on me.

I've got the same feedback as others. I've used both and like them both. I definitely recommend the Inkbird controller. One of the best investments I've made for my reef.

Agree also, I use them on every system in addition to the Apex, so the ON / OFF does not kill the Apex outlet.
