Fire shrimp and diamond goby

I have a fire shrimp and I believe he is taking out my goby’s. 1st diamond goby I bought was about 1” long seen him around for about 5 days and then one day just gone. Few weeks later I bought another one that was almost double the size of my first diamond goby he was doing really well eating good very active wasn’t a time that I didn’t see him out. Had him for about a month an a half then again one day just went missing never seen him since. Could my fire shrimp be taking them out? I really love the diamond goby’s because they keep my tank looking great and they are fun to watch. But I can’t keep buying them for them to end up and food for my shrimp. I would love some input on this if anyone had a similar experience

First of all, we are talking about Lysmata debelius, correct? The Fire Cleaner Shrimp?

And secondly, how did you even get a 1 inch long fish? They were probably never going to survive.

And Thirdly, I highly, highly doubt a fire shrimp can/will hurt fish. What tankmates do you have? Did you QT? What size tank?

As far as the 1” fish I got it my LFS it was probably more like 1” 1/2 but it was still tiny the 2nd diamond goby I got from them was much bigger and still had a issue

Tanks is a 25 gallon 6 month old , tank mates are the fire shrimp , 2 clown fish and a six line wrasse all fairly small fish with some misc snails. My LFS does a 14 day quarantine.

Crazy part I don’t see any remains in the tank and I’ve seen the fire shrimp get a little aggressive that’s why I’m starting to think he could be the culprit

If anything I’m willing to bet the six line was too aggressive with it.

And then the shrimp and other CUC could eat it. But I’ve never seen fire shrimp attack anything

It’s possible I was just actually reading that they can be bullies. Personally I’ve never seen any aggression from mine. Everytime I seen the six line around the goby he completely ignores them but not saying it could be happening after hours

Fish behave way differently when our presence is felt. you can set up a small camera to watch the tank while you are away from the tank and see if they fight

Yeah I might have to do that I already have one. Kinda strange how the one lasted almost 2 months in the tank with no issues. I always thought it was the fire shrimp because it’s another bottom feeder it seemed more aggressive towards the goby then anything else in the tank.

Six line wrasses are notorious for their bad behavior! If it knocks the goby hard enough to the point where he cant move the shrimp will take it for food, after all it's his job. The smaller the goby the more of a target he will be and the less beating he can take.

The blood shrimp is peaceful and reserved; but it will defend his territory from other shrimps such as a cleaner shrimp that goes everywhere and eventually will cross antennas with him. He will dash towards him but wont hurt it. That being said he also wont bother fish that are alive and kicking.

My advice to you would be to get an adult size goby (diamond or any of the Valenciennea genus, they're all sand sifters) or get rid of the six line wrasse. You can get a pink-streaked wrasse that is similar in size and shape, is very pretty and is extremely peaceful. It would get along great with your clowns and any other peaceful fish.
