I’ve had this fire shrimp for about 6 months. A couple days ago he molted and it looks like his legs didn’t form right. He’s barely mobile.

I’m dealing with prorocentrum and amphidinium Dino’s at the moment. I feel like if the toxins were to blame he’d already be dead.

I doubt there’s any saving this guy, but if any one has any ideas and/or an explanation as to the cause I’d love to hear it.

Ph 8
Alk 9
Ca 430
Mag 1300
No3 10 (elevated from 3 to fight dinos)
Po4 .1 (elevated from .03 to fight dinos)

I have not yet started dosing silicates for the Dino. And I just picked up carbon this afternoon for the toxins. All other inverts snails/pistol shrimp seem to be fine.

Tank mate details are a couple chromis, a pair of clowns, lawnmower blenny, Midas blenny and a yasha goby pistol shrimp pair. Hermit crab and snail CUC. None of the fish have ever showed any attention to the shrimp so I doubt he was harassed during or after the molt.

Another theory would be that the Dino toxins weakened him before the molt causing issues..

Pistol shrimp may have popped him. When I had one he was quite literally the devil. I found nearly a dozen hermit remains when I tore the tank down for a move

Interesting. Never considered that but it looks to be a real possibility.
