Firefish Goby MIA

Hello, this is the typical firefish goby going MIA question. So, I haven't seen him in about a week, he usually comes out to eat. I've been trying to peak in my rockwork, but don't see a body, he does have a den somewhere down there. I'm not going to break up my rock work, but how long would you go without seeing him before you count it as a loss? 3 weeks maybe? I do have a decent CUC, so if he is dead, they'll get to it for sure. Only other fish in the tank are a pair of clowns and a Watchman

They are good hiders, so I wouldn't give up on him just yet. But it is also the kind of fish that if it did die, you may never see the body. They are so thin and just kind of disappear, and I'm sure the CUC makes fast work of them. But I wouldn't give up yet, keep offering food, he may pop out soon enough.

I would definitely give him longer before you declare him gone, but yes, they are very shy fish, though quite nice looking

Any other less shy gobies or blennies that you would recommend for a 25 gallon? I just picked up a tail spot blenny for my other tank and even tbough it's not swimming around, at least it's perched on a rock out in the open. I'd even settle for behavior like that if you have any suggestions. I love midas blennys but I know my tank is too small.

I have a tail spot now, pretty cool fish! I've had a Court Jester Goby that was pretty cool, as well as a Yellow Watchman Goby, which is kind of a slow moving bottom dweller, but they have a surprisingly big personality. I'm sure there's other choices too, those are just a few I've had recently.

You could do a black barred goby a clown goby pickle whatever color you want or a mandarin I kept one in a 25 successfully before if you don’t add pods but a brine shrimp feeder and hatchery

Have a Watchman and love it. Would just like something that perches more or swims mid water at times. I've seen court jester gobies but heard they can be hard to take care of?

I have a tail spot now, pretty cool fish! I've had a Court Jester Goby that was pretty cool, as well as a Yellow Watchman Goby, which is kind of a slow moving bottom dweller, but they have a surprisingly big personality. I'm sure there's other choices too, those are just a few I've had recently.

I just got my tail spot, so the behaviors are all new to me. Does yours normally just perch or does it swim around as well? And what do you feed it?

Mine does mostly hover over or kind of stick out from the rock work. I don't typically see him swimming around the tank at large. Way cool fish though

Is he poking his nose out of the rock right in the middle, behind that frag plug? If so, I'd say totally normal

I was certain one of mine died but he showed up a week later with a broken off top fin. It regrew amazingly fast and after a month or so has become less shy.

That being said, I started with 3 and two went missing at the same time. One never reappeared.

Honestly, that sounds about right to me. These fish are sold as hardy beginner fish, but in my experience they are fair frail, fragile, and often just kind of disappear. I like them, but I haven't tried to keep one in some time.

Somewhat. Hes laying on the rock behind the frag plug, there's no large hole on the rock for him to have a crevice. Thank you. He doesn't look stressed but still learning the behavior.

didnt see him for nearly 2 weeks!! take out the rockwork, nothing
go on vacatio
my friend takes care of the tank
lo-and-behold
i come back to a healthy firefish!!

Yeah, thank you. I definitely checked my filtration compartment a few times and nothing there but extra detritus build which i need to clean later lol.
