i have not seen my firefish in a week, he isnt in his normal hiding spot.
i am starting to get very worried
only change/disruption was that my wavemaker malfunctioned - sprayed sand all over his half of the tank, so i noticed he was hiding in different spot but has soon as i cleaned tank up he went back to his normal spot, and i havent seem him since.
no predators or such

Sometimes fish hide. And your fish can tell you're coming into the room if it's paying attention. You can set your recording device to record while your not in the room and, upon review, perhaps find it swimming around when you leave the room. LOL, only thing I can think of!

My Helfrichi was hiding for the first 2-3 days but become bolder as I started to feed.

Try turning off pumps and power heads when feeding, when the water is still they get into a habit of coming out. Do you have any wrasses? I heard they can scare them out because of how active they are.

Yeah the sleeper gobys are great but they get much bigger than the FF. My firefish drifts in the mid section of the tank and these gobies tend to do laps around the sandbed.
