Hi,
Tuesday I received a frag of Firework clove polyps. Today being the 5th day in my tank, they still have not opened. I left them on my tank sandbed for 3 hours, then glued them to a spot I hoped would work as my lights were ramping down. There glued to a piece of branched caribe sea rock, and it seems like an isolated place that would be nice once they take off in there growth. The branched rock is about 13 inches from the top of the water column, and that piece of rock with the clove polyps is 4 inches right of being directly down from where the LED light is mounted. The LED lights are Red Sea, and the manual states it is 400 PAR on the top of my water column if I remember correctly. I don’t have a PAR meter, this clove polyp sits 13 inches below water line and not directly underneath. To the right and left of the mounted clove polyp is shade, but the coral itself on the mount is in direct light, so I’m unsure if it is too much light, or just the wrong place for this coral. The flow is light, everywhere else in this reef tank has higher flow. This clove polyp I intended to use as a means of blocking my copperband butterfly fish from assaulting a feather duster behind it. I have Christmas clove polyps in the back of my tank on an island that are 10 weeks established and they are flourishing, but they sit up about 7 inches from tank bottom. Pictures below

Today I did Calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. Ca. 450, Magnesium 1335, Alkalinity is 9.184 dkh. Salinity is 1.025, temperature is 78.4. Triton ICP was a month ago, everything was great, except many trace elements were on the low end. Phosphate was .035. Nitrate is always near zero in my tank, however some macro algae in refugium is not as healthy, more gunked up. Could be due to me changing spectrum to a more red intensity.. recently turned down refugium kessil light intensity and went back to a Whiter light. Have a media reactor with bio pellets tumbling softly, but it seems a little gunked up as well, and is on my to do list for cleaning and maintenance this weekend. Been running carbon that I change weekly or every other week. 10-15% Water changes weekly or every other weekend.
