Just got my first coral today since setting up my tank. Got a some nice golden gods.

Now I was told WWC is very safe as far as pests go, but what about the water? I planned on dumping their water in my tank as well as their tanks are very established.

Thoughts?

I will always dip corals if I can.

I wouldn't think there would be much benefit to adding a small amount of other tank water because most of the "establishment" comes from the rocks and substrate (in my opinion).

From vendors I generally dip, and add as little of their water as possible.

So the coral goes from the bag it came in, to the dip container with MY water in it, with very little of theirs. Then it goes in my tank.

From private R2R members, or on occasion from a vendor that instructs not to dip (this has happened once), I do a little research, but if I feel comfortable, then I won't dip. This vendor is very personal and small, and I felt comfy that their water was also solid and would be no pests.

WWC has a fantastic rep, I'd still dip. Without cheating and checking their website, they probably tell you to dip would be my guess.

Adding water from another tank does not do anything to improve your tank water. The beneficial bacteria does not reside in the water column, and there might be some pest that fell off the frag that you might introduce to your tank with the water. I wouldn't do it.

Dip your frags to remove those pests and discard the tank water.

Agree with the rest dipping is best practice even from trusted source. Discard water and you can use tweezers to scrap frag plug.

dipped and put in display.

Nothing came out except for a few pods. Looking happy so far!

Well first day was fine. Yesterday they started to close up and don’t open much more than this. The fully closed one has been closed since Wednesday afternoon.

Parameters are all okay and has a nice indirect flow on it.

Let it settle down for a few days and popped it off its frag plug and glued onto a small rock.

Time to start my zoa garden! Ordered about 15 zoas from WWC yesterday to start my collection.
