Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but i didn't see anywhere else to post. Here it goes...
So i ordered my first fish/inverts a few days ago and they showed up today. Boxes were packed extremely well, and the UPS delivery guy actually put the boxes the correct way on my doorstep, so I was pretty please about that. However, every single fish was DOA. I think the snails, a few crabs and maybe my skunk cleaner will pull through, but I am acclimating them as we speak. So fingered crossed. The cause of death was for sure the water temperature. It was 55 degrees when I opened the packages up and tested them. So if you live somewhere warm, I would ask whomever to place a few extra heater or buy locally. Once I am refunded, I will buy my fish locally until its summer time when i won't have to worry about water temperature.

What was the ambient temperature, and how long did the boxes sit outside once delivered?

Not sure who the question is for (not trying to hijack the thread) but my fish was delivered to my house around 10:30 AM and I was home to receive it. The water in the bag felt cold (did not take a measurement) and was very discolored and smelly. I think the fish had been dead for several hours.

temp outside was about 35/40. Soon as the boxes were delivered, around 4:15PM, i brought them in immediately.

Yeah that's what i am going to do now. Luckily my 2 turbo snails lived, about 4 blue hermit crabs and my cleaner shrimp. Those guys are troopers. My shrimp was on its side struggling to live. I put his bag inside my tank to float acclimate, and it started to recover.

I have heard good things about LA, that's why i went with them. They just need to insulate better and add more heaters during the winter months.

Yeah lesson learned to not ship during the winter i guess. I am glad too. aquarium isn't very pleasing to look at with a cleaner shrimp and a few snail, but man those things are troopers

I’ve had a few snails hitchhike off my lid when I take it off to feed, find them on the floor next morning and still alive. Pretty tough
