Couple more shots of Swim Shady, I am now down to 3 Mollies from the original 4.

I also never really noticed how well Lionfish could camouflage against the rocks in the tank until he settled himself into his little shelf in the rockwork

Then i realised that Red is one of the first spectrums to be filtered out by the water depth, so it does make sense to have reds as an ambush predator

Still on the look out for a Female Dwarf Fuzzy but losing a bit of hope now as Swim Shady has been in the tank alone for a few month he might not take kindly to another, only really one way of finding this out however.

Anyways I decided that I wanted to try Mangroves so placed an order last week and they arrived today.

I poked some holes through a Styrofoam sheet and inserted the pods through so that the roots are under the water, Swim shady is currently enjoying a new overhang in the tank

and now we wait and get really excited when I see a new leaf

Forgot to update :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I *think* that the fish is a juvenile male sadly, also much too small for me to feel comfortable adding to the tank without having a secondary grow out system for it so decided to pick up another fish that has been on my wish list for a little while.

He has been in the store for roughly 6 months now, with no interest what so ever. So a quick word with the LFS manager and i picked him up for the grand price of £18.99 (from £58.99) and the LFS now have another display tank to restock with something that will most likely sell (Clownfish i would guess)

So Hawkfish has been named The Ghostfaced Krilla, due to his voracious appetite in QT/Observation

Added a cheap mixed zoa rock today to try and get a bit more colour in the tank, also spoke to my LFS about the amount of mushroom babies I have in the tank and been offered £3 per leaf so plan on removing about 10 of the larger to build some credit for future purchases/needs

Mangrove Roots are pushing out at a rapid rate at the moment which is nice, now waiting for those leaves

Have finally located and purchased some more rock for the display, it is dry but has been in a reef tank previously so I have left it cooking in a large bin next to the tank at work (no idea how i get away with doing all this if i am honest) for a few weeks until it is cycled before adding to the display.

I will be taking the smaller pieces home and adding to my Mantis tank as well as the new Pico that I am setting up

So as I found out this morning (I knew this I just forgot about it) Lionfish can and will jump. Not sure how long she has been in the display for but arrived to work this morning to a surprise greeting
20220705_083915.jpg

So far from what I have noticed from observing the tank today is that they tend to stay within a few inches of each other, swimming, feeding and perching on the same rock
