Hey all,
First saltwater tank here and just joined. Running a simple setup with mushrooms, zoas, a few fish, and inverts.

Parameters are testing well. Seeing some early green hair algae that came in on a rock, keeping it trimmed and not stressing about it. Mostly just observing, learning, and trying not to overreact as the tank settles in.

Looking forward to learning from everyone here.

Got 3 damsels
1 skunk shrimp
1 clown fish (mean)
A feather duster worm
2 hermit crabs
Zoanthids
Green hair mushroom
3 red mushrooms
(Bristle worms :/)

Nice start. Whats that structure in back left corner?
It’s a structure I found in a closet. I stuck in there cause my clown fish is meaner than sin. I thought it’d help with breaking up the line of site. But naw, he’s just evil. The shrimp likes jumping off it so I left in there. I was thinking about putting some algae in the center of it

Welcome! Keep ya hands out the tank!

Just kidding. Looks like yellow tail damsels?

Awesome. I’d consider adding one more rock to provide some extra hiding places or caves for the damsels.

I’d also suggest covering the back glass to give (this is solely taste-based) but I think a black backdrop would make things in the foreground, including fish, pop. But I think it also gives the fish a little less “openness” to worry about predators or competition.

I did a foggy background. It came out slightly better than I expected. I’m not a fan of the backdrops with designs. Definitely going with black on the bigger tank. Will look way better. I have some more live rock chillin in a bucket (flowed). Finding a good stand and contractor to come view my flooring.

Welcome to Reef2Reef! Can't wait to see how your tank progresses!
