Just looked at your build thread! Wow! You have an awesome setup. Congrats. I did notice that we have a lot of common equipment. I will most definitely ask for advice. I saw the picture of the sump on the first page. Looks epic! The layout on the sump i Got us a bit different. I will post pictures tomorrow. Btw, how did you connect standard pvc to the metric drain pipes? I was looking for conversion connectors but haven’t found any in Toronto yet.

Thank you!

I used a 3/4" threaded male to 1" slip female reducing adapter to connect to my 1" manifold plumbing with about 15 wraps of teflon tape and hand-tightening. No leakes after 2 years. See: https://www.pvcfittingsonline.com/3-4-x-1-sch-80-pvc-reducing-male-adapter-mpt-x-socket-836-102.html

So started putting the tank together! Cabinet is done. Added some led strip. We will see if they hold up or not.
I think I didn’t get the cabinet doors exact but that’s can be fixed later.

If you don’t mind. Can I ask some follow ups?
So here’s the return fitting that goes into the tank

.
So the part you mentioned, how does that attach to this?
Really appreciate your help in this.

On my v2 XL 425, the barbed fitting unscrewed from the pipe, then I replaced the barb with the threaded adapter I mentioned. I can't tell from your photo if your barbed fitting unscrews or if it's glued.

The barb fitting does unscrew! Ok I think I understand what you meant. Once I unscrew the barn fitting the female threads are 25mm. I think. The fitting that you linked to is 3/4” on the threaded side. So the 3/4” male threads go to the 25mm female threads and we use the Teflon tape to account for the different in mm vs inch fittings. Did I get that right?
if so, what do we do with the drain pipes? They seem to be glued. And again, your replies and help is much appreciated!

Yes, I wrapped the 3/4" threads with about 15 layers of teflon tape and hand-tightened it into the metric fitting. It has held fine for me for over 2 years now. I got this tip from others here when I was first building my tank.

I didn't do anything with my drain pipes. I kept the stock Red Sea plumbing on the drains.

got it! Makes sense. Thanks for the details. I am going to find the fittings and start the plumbing soon :)
