First time for everything

This weekend will be the time I finally switch my stand over and start to set up my tank with plumbing and whatnot. Any advice for the switch? I was thinking about emptying my water and just trying to shift the tank with some water and then place the new stand in the place and somehow move it from the old stand to the new one. I think just having an amount of water warmed and whatnot would be alright, and i was thinking about doing a significant water change.
