Hello fellow reefers, I have a question and maybe I can Fer some feedback on what it is. Today I harvested my chaeto due to my nitrates being 0.0 and phosphates at 0.04. This is the first time I have removed the Cheato out of my refigium since I first put in my refigium on November 5 2022. When I took it apart to check for worms I noticed a slimy beige substance in the middle of the Cheato ball. Looks like fatty deposits. Has anyone seen this before. I took apart the Cheato and picked the clean portion to create a new ball for my refigium.

It's probably just trapping detritus. I get some black slime in mine here and there but I trim it back weekly.

I never worried about that stuff and never saw it do anything negative. Probably just trapped detritus as the flow is less in the center of the mass.
