I was hoping someone could help me. I have a 30 gallon with a cannister filter and small protein skimmer. I had the tank up and running for about 16 months when in October my fish all died within a day of each other but my inverts were fine. I had a pair of clowns, a valenti puffer and a diamond goby. When this initially happened I noticed one of the clowns breathing heavy at the bottom and then the next day he had died but the others seemed fine until the following day when everyone was dead. No new fish had been added for months (the diamond was the last in). The sg was 1.023, the ph 7.8ish, nitrites 0 and nitrates around 5 ppm. Those parameters were stable for almost the entirety of the tanks existence. There was an air freshener on the room and I considered this may have been the cause. In any event from mid October up until about Jan 10th I let the tank sit. The camelback shrimp and a few crabs all survived. I did weekly water changes varying from 5 to 10%. I added a pair of clowns on the 10th and they were fine. I added a neon dottyback a week later. One of the clowns then passed away, I added a 2nd own back in and he passed as well as the original. The dottyback seems OK but I don't want to add anyone else. The air freshener was removed back in October after the initial crash. Any thoughts on what may be wiping them out? The parameters are the same as above except the nitrates dropped to almost 0 however my salinity is down to 1.02. Sorry for the length. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
