Fish Dying Cloudy Water

Hey Everyone I have a tank going for almost two years - 10 gallon with a few CSB nems and 2 clowns. I came home and the water is extremely cloudy and one fish is dead. The other is labored breathing and doesnt look good. Nems look ticked off and retracted.

I did a 50% water change and things were looking better. Left to get some Fritz and came back water is EXTREMELY cloudy. I put the Fritz in and am letting it mix through.

Do I do another water change?? What the heck is going on I have never had anything like this before. PLEASE HELP!

I almost have more water changed and ready - I will do another large water change then dose a bit more fritz and have a big bag of carbon I just added

Havent added anything this thing has been rock solid stable. I do W/c every 2 - 4 weeks. Everything always stays perfect. I just pulled my last clown out and put it in some warm new water to hopefully get it some relief on the gills if its ammonia etc.

With the W/c should I vacuum the sand? see if something is trapped in there?

I dont see any spots, or ich, velvet etc.. on the clown looks healthy to me. I just dont know why the water is cloudy. I checked the system for kids toys or something foreign didnt see anything. I dont think any nems split and went in the weir.

Post 2nd water change. Should be over a 100% change - huge bag of carbon, Fritz 900. I have the clown in a cup with fresh salt water and am bubbling it for air. If it stays clearer / keeps clearing I’ll put it back.

Very sad to have lost my other clown. They were a great spotcinctus pair…

Water is still murky, but isnt getting more murky. hoping that it is clearing up. My clown is not doing well - not sure what else I can do to help it. Or put it out of its pain.

A 2 year old mature tank should not do that unless something died including algae or sand bed disturbed which can release, ammonia spikes. Very strange what would trigger that otherwise.

Assuming the clown is still struggling, you can lower the salinity to 1.018 which may help him breath. But if you do that, he must be brought up very slowly to DT salinity, when put back in.

Not sure what could have happened. I’ve never had anything like this. My other clown passed. Found a nem off the rock in the sand. Seems like everything is dying and I still can’t figure out why.

Carbon is running and it’s getting cloudy again. I turned off the light in case it was bacteria or a bloom.

Might just be a full crash for some unknown reason.

I just can’t get why after a full water change of all water it’s still cloudy.

Looks maybe slightly better. Still overall not great. Time will tell.

I do not unfortunately. Also haven’t been able to check parameters.

Cherry on top is I have to leave for out of town this weekend. So I’m hoping with all the above done it’s really all I can do. We’ll see what happens.

May have to re start or it’ll pull through
