Is there a lot of flow in the tank or is it just because of the back problem that it seems to struggle. Not sure what the issue could be.

my lfs suggested after looking at him that the sailfin did attack because of a lack of oxygen. She said she had a sailfin kill 2 fish when it was stressedHas the Sailfin shown any aggression towards the Kole.
I have 3 large powerheads It isnt struggling to bad still tries to swim and pick at thingsIs there a lot of flow in the tank or is it just because of the back problem that it seems to struggle. Not sure what the issue could be.
This might very well be the problem then. You might what to put the Kole in a separate tank if you have one to see if it heals up & then rehome it or remove the sailfin for a few days & then reintroduce.my lfs suggested after looking at him that the sailfin did attack because of a lack of oxygen. I have an awesome LFS that is taking care of him for me actually. when i get him back i will put the sailfin in an acclimation box large enough for him for a day or two. I also have my new 34G reef but idk if i wanna put him in there...This might very well be the problem then. They were in a 72How big is the tank you had them in. 34gl isn't big enough for any tang, not enough room for them to swim & graze like they need to.
Some will say this is OK for a kole or small yellow but the Sailfin is going to get to big pretty quick for that tank. Does your LFS know what size tank you are putting them in. I would think that is why the Sailfin went after it even if you didn't see it happen. They were in a 72
Yes if he gets to large ik I might have to get rid of him he is still only about 4 maybe 5 inches now though. Up until now though he hasn't shown any aggression. I think because of the lack of oxygen though he was aggressive to the next biggest fish. My lfs said the same thing happened to 2 of her fish when her pump went out and she even has a 350G so the size of the tank doesnt matter to much imo. Some will say this is OK for a kole or small yellow but the Sailfin is going to get to big pretty quick for that tank. Well all my other fish are about 3 inches or less and so I would imagine they need far less oxygen than a 5 inch tang...Not sure why she would say lack of O2, that would effect all the fish not just the tangs, it's more of feeding range issue & body type.
Lack of O2 makes sense because my filter wasnt running either and a bubbler in the corner and a little surface movement was all that was providing oxygen....Not sure why she would say lack of O2, that would effect all the fish not just the tangs, it's more of feeding range issue & body type.
True but lack of oxygen is going to affect everyone in time. I've just never heard of a fish attacking because of that. Interesting reasoning.Well all my other fish are about 3 inches or less and so I would imagine they need far less oxygen than a 5 inch tang...
Yeah i understand but atm that is the only possible reason for my fish bring bent up lolTrue but lack of oxygen is going to affect everyone in time. I've just never heard of a fish attacking because of that. Interesting reasoning.
