I have a 20 gallon innovative marine Nuvo 20 with just a peppermint shrimp and some snails and crabs and was wondering what fish everyone would recommend. I prefer captive bred if possible. I want mainly peaceful fish. I would consider a designer clownfish if it is peaceful. Also where would you buy from online? Thanks for the help.

You can do clowns in there. Maroons may need more space though since they get pretty big and they can be bitey haha. Were you looking for specific colors and what not? I know Dr. Mac has a lot of captive bred fish and he is a sponsor here in R2R. He has his own section in the sponsors area.

A pair of designer clowns would be perfect in a tank that size. Also I would recommend buying from cultivated reef. They are all captive bred, reasonable priced and they have great customer service.

All clowns have the potential to be aggressive, but ocellaris are generally considered some of the most peaceful. I have had great luck purchasing directly from ORA. I use live aquaria and order fish from the ORA section of the website. They ship directly from ORA (what LA calls their Florida facility) and I have yet to have one arrive with any disease, parasite or infection.

ORA also has some blennies, gobies and Cardinalfish that would be great for that size tank.

+1 here on the recommendation of a Yellow Assessor or ORA also breeds the lesser seen Randall’s Assessor which is more of a blue/turquoise color with orange spots on the fins....they can really glow under blues depending on how the light hits them.
I have one of each in my 20gal Waterbox and they both are awesome colored, hardy, peaceful, and intriguing little fish!! Love them!!! I’ve had both of mine for almost a year now with no issues.
