Fish not staying alive??

So I have moved up from my nano to a 70g reef. It's been up and running for about 6-7 weeks. I tested the water and all the levels came back fine. I am running some chemi-pure elite in the sump along with my skimmer. Saterday I went to LFS and bought a clown(nemo) fish. Just went home for lunch and bang no clown anywhere. Checked even in the overflow and begind the tank. I had an issue with keeping fish in my last 24g nano over 2yrs. Now, why is it happening I feel all over again?? All my corals are fine and seem to be doing well. Why not fish??HELP

Is this the only fish you have lost so far in that tank?

That time period between introducing and losing the fish may have something to do with the fish's initial health before you purchased it as well as your acclimation technique.

It's the only fish I had as when I transferred to upgrade I only kept corals. I bought the fish dumped in a cylinder and added a drip for an he and a half for the clown. Then dumped into net and added to tank. Was fine for a day or two now poof gone! Don't get it

Did you use RO water?
If not that can sometimes be an issue.

Is the temperature within range?
How did you cycle your tank?
Water flow and surface agitation for oxygen exchange is also a necessary component.

I think you need to find the fish first. If it's on the floor somewhere (they can flop pretty far! Found mine quite aways from the tank) then your tank might be fine.

Im having the same problem with my Nano tank, Its been up and running for about 12 weeks and no matter what kind of fish we put in it, they just die over night, but the coral look great! everything tests good too. I hope you figure out whats causing the issue. But like Mike said I would check the floor we had quite a few fish flop out of are 240Gallon and die behind the tank. goodluck.

Fish are susceptible to changes in temp and salinity, so if your just floating the bag then releasing, might I suggest trying to drip acclimate one, see what happens from there.

It looks like the OP did drip.

It may have gotten sick and gone into hiding. You really should get a quarantine tank, since once you introduce something (lke ich) to your reef it's a royal pain to get it out again.

If it is not a DSB, then stir through the sand and try to find him.

I had a 28 nano cube and up to a 70 eeverything has been fine.Your test look good.I always acclimate my fish in the bag from the lfs and i add 2 turkey basters full every five minutes.I have onlyu lost a blue starfish but because my puffer attacked it.I only do about 5 to 10 gallon water changes weekly thats it.I use the kent marine products.My nitrates are a little bit higher but once i do my 10 gallon water change all good.

do you check your salinity my ph has almost always been perfect nitrite great only 2 adjustment im always making nitrates and ammonia but there always really low.Also do you check for chloramine.Ive always had a bunch of fish so thats why its higher and new tank.

Water stability is even more critical in a nano. Do you have an auto top off, this will help you minimize any fluctuations in your tank. If not one thing can through something else off and then create more problems.

my nano 28 gallon media reactor and chiller just plain old carbon filter and pellets with bio balls

I will take some asap when I get home from work. I did add a few new prices of dry rock and getting a bit of diatoms but I did some research and that shouldn't really effect fish if you keep up with water changes which I do a 5g bucket a week. The only thing I have in the tank is a brittle star and a serpant star fish and I have no clue if they are hostle forwards fish??

Green serpents can be iffy, but the others are usually fine, and a little bit of supplemental feeding can go a long way even if you do have a green.
