Fish Suggestions

In the process of stocking my 55 gallon reef tank and I was looking for some suggestions to fill some open slots. My tank has been cycling for a month now and I only have x2 Clown Fish and now x1 Royal Gramma at the moment. I’ve created a list of the fish I plan on having and I’m adding them in that order, but I think I might be able to squeeze in 1 or 2 more. Looking for suggestions, but if you disagree with any I’ve chosen or think I’ve reached my limit don’t be afraid to let me let me know.

A trio of dartfish, or some cardinals would give you something staying mid level most of the time.

In a 55 I wouldn't really go with any tang, but if I had to, I'd go with a tomini instead of a kole (tominis are smaller). Optimally though, I'd go with a dwarf angelfish instead. If you're looking for algae eaters, a lawnmower blenny would be better size wise.

I definitely approve of the hawkfish and blenny, with your aquascape, I can see lots of great perching spots.

However, on the converse side, there's not very many "dartholes" for dartfish/firefish. A group of cardinals could work, but I just don't see many areas for sleeping spots...

I have a tomini and Kole tang in ny 135 and the Tomini is only a little bit smaller. What kind of 55g is this ? A regular 4ft or some square shaped tank ?

A kole tang will be fine in either. I had him in my 60g hexagon.


Look up Talbot damsels. Theyre super pretty had 4 in my 60g hex and i loved it. Here is my 60g hex. This was before i got the kole tang

It’s a Red Sea reefer 250, more on the squarish size
