So there is a plethora of fish available for out fish tanks. However, there is a select set of fish that not only add to the visual appeal of the tank but also benefit the tank in some other way. I personally like to add inhabitants that not only look good, but serve a purpose and maintain some sort of symbiotic relationship with the mini ecosystem I'm trying to maintain. Some examples I can think of are

Dragon face pipefish is reported to prey upon the infamous redbugs

Sixline wrasse can keep hitchhiker worms and unwanted microscopic hitchhikers from overwhelming a tank

Halichoeres wrasses such as the yellow coris and radiant wrasses can keep bristle worms, flat worms, pyramid snails, and other potentially unwanted hitchhikers at a manageable population.

I know there is a bunch more fish out there that have benefits as well. What fish can you think of that have beneficial purposes for our tanks?
